Last Wednesday I went to a really interesting gathering at Training Gate International (TGI) called “Dewan Samia”. TGI does training and skills development for people with disabilities.
The guest speaker was a man born with a genetic disease — “fragile bone” syndrome. He was in a wheelchair. He shared his inspiring story with the group. Despite his disability, he finished high school, attended college and graduated. He fell in love with a girl but had hard time getting married. Her family didn’t agree with the marriage since she was not disabled. However, she loved him from her heart and married him anyway.
God blessed them with a baby, but his disability is genetic and the baby had the same problem as his dad. But the dad kept fighting and facing the challenges in his life, and now he’s applying for master’s program in Canada.
Mashalla, an amazing story, unfortunately many people in Kuwait that are totally healthy without disability keep making excuses for what they’re facing in life. This young man is a great example for many people for not giving up, and for facing the challenges in life no matter what they are. God bless him, I really wish him and the other amazing people all the best in their lives.
